Description:
Westbury Wiltshire. Large eliptical disc as if viewing round disc tilted . Metallic with lights around the outside circumference, travelled slowly across top of friend's house then tilted flat so only saw edge and then sped away in the direction of Devizes. Silent. Difficult to gauge size and distance as at night. Could not be mistaken, aircraft, weather balloon, chinese fire lantern or other. Definately UFO.

Investigation:
22/10/08: Contacted UFO Warminster / Steve Dewey for any like cases at the time. There was a sighting as below, but this was on the 16/11/06:
Sighting in Direction of Cley Hill

A Wanstrow woman reported seeing bright lights in the direction of Cley Hill at about 4.45pm on November 16th, 2006.
She saw approximately six bright lights making different patterns, and then for about 30 seconds a triangular shape appeared. The sighting lasted for about 5 minutes.
The military, police and the nearby Centre Parcs were contacted about the incident, but no explanation was forthcoming. "

I am (now) a 76 year old Ex USAF (SAC) member who in 1981 returned home alone to my flat in Troon. Cold nite with sky full of stars. Looking up just before goin inside (to admire sky) suddenly witnessed a (shooting star/ Meteor) type object transit a small piece of sky. Instantly it turned 90degrees to right, this turn down at right angles, no radius to turn! vanished. I held T.S. clearance with Air Force and had access to Top Secret matters in the 1950"s.This sighting I have not disclosed publicly

Description:
Mr Malcolm Smith from Boreham Field said 'It was a clear night at aprox. ten minutes past eight o'clock and I was in my garden facing towards the north when I saw the lights very close together, possibly belonging to the same object.
They were moving very erractically northwards, tumbling through the sky. I observed it for aprox. 30 seconds until it disappeared from view near the horizon.

Investigation:
Not enough information for full investigation. Could be a helicopter?

I am still pretty much in shock so this letter may be a mess. And it was dark. I can't reamember the exact time. I didn't have time to check. Its 15 mins before or after this time.
Well i was sitting in my computer. Before my PC is a window. Suddenly i saw a red blinking light far far away. i though it came from my computer. I pushed those see-through curtains away. And it still blinked. And then i though its a plane. Then it started to move. Really fast to me....it flew along my house really fast. and i couldn't see it anymore. Then i ran to living room and saw it flying by. It was up to Betule. Between two of them. A little bit more up to a Betule. I didn't saw its exact shape. All i saw were yellow and green lights. Many of those. And one big blinking light.Then it started to move. Really fast to me....it flew along my house really fast. and i couldn't see it anymore. All i saw were yellow and reen lights. and then it dissapeared. At this moment i was so shocked that i couldn't fnd my phone to take a pic. But this pic is still in my mind. And the darkness n big blinking light interfered my view for shape. Far it seemed like a round but when i saw it close i wasn't so sure anymore. Could it be an UFO ship or was it something else

All i saw at first was a little annoying red light it was very far away. like 10 km, 20 km. I though it was really annoying plan at that moment.

well i saw it pretty close it was about 100-300 meters high. I can't tell exacly couse i am not with a very good eye on heights. But it was very low

When you say it moved fast, how fast did it move?

well it stood on a place when it was far away. At last it seemed like it stood. And suddenly it cam very fast. Faster than plane....this all leasted max 1 or 2 mins.

Which direction did you see the light and which direction did it fly?

it came from south and flew up to North well on the same way as the Pärnu to Tallinn. I hope you understand what i mean.

I'm not familiar with the term Betule - could you explain?

i am sorry my mistake....its a tree called Betula or Birtch. I don't know if it is going to tell you something.

How did the object vanish? Just vanish or did it fly off?

thats th part i can't remember clarly. I saw it flying away and suddenly it wasn't there anymore. No light no nothing

How bright were the lights?

well the yellow and green ones wasn't so bright but this red one was really disturbing and annoying i can tell that.

For now it seems like a dream but i know i was awake. I am not in shock anymore. I think it was a really good experience.

What do you believe?

Before i didn't believe in UFO-s but after yesterday i am not so sure anymore. Now i more think that this all can be true

Description:
2 craft, one large, one much smaller - I had my eyes trained on the normal segment of sky as I normally do (when time allows it) and there was no movement for sometime. It was the fading of light of the larger craft (that to the naked eye just looked like a star) that caught my attention. It faded from being extremely bright to being unnoticeable in approximately 5 seconds and returned to its previous brightness some 5 seconds later, again gradually returning to its original brightness.

It then began to move slowly to the left in the direction of Marlborough (its original position was between Lyneham and Avebury at a high elevation). It was then and only then I noticed a much smaller craft, alot dimmer in appearance following the larger craft.

The smaller craft did not change its brightness at any point whilst I was watching, but the larger craft did continue to fade in and out but only when stationary. I remember at the time likening their movement to a game of chess but where both pieces would move in the same direction. From what I can recall they did not move simultaneously but both would wait for each other to stop moving, before independently moving off again.

The larger craft was clearly the 'dominant' of the two and took less time to make a movement the smaller pale yellow craft took longer to follow the Larger of the two and seemed the movement seemed to be more gradual.

Investigation:
Linked to cases SUF-CSE-016 and SUF-CSE-017 (same witness). We have decided to conduct a field study with the witness. SUFOR will be sending a small investigation team to the location to sky watch with the witness. The aim of this investigation is to prove or dis-prove autokinesis and high altitude cloud as causes for these sightings.

Description :
Whilst walking with my girlfriend at 20.10hrs the 26/09/2008 at the vilage of Llanbrynmair, Mid Wales i observed a light far away go slowly from the left to right direction. Then all of a sudden it went up to the left at a high speed, then at the spped of a bullet went up to the right like in a z shape it was a bright light as far as i can say it was not flashing just a constant light.

Response:was facing North, it was traveling from left to right from north to east then went upwards at a faseter speed then changed direction and went in a couple of seconds, it was a bright light with a daze around, it was a clear night, been a lovely warm day, it was cold, no cloud cover, the frame refrence were above the mountains Pandy road Llanbrynmair, the hight was the around the same as a comercial aeroplane but no plane flys at that speed.

Description:
I have just returned from holiday in Calla Rajada, Majorca, on the evening of Friday 26/09/2008 at approximately 00.55 am, I saw 9 large triangular shaped bright white unidentified objects fly silently in wing formation over my hotel at speed, in a southerly direction, there was no engine noise, their was light cloud cover, I was at the time just taking in the night air from my 3rd floor balcony before retiring to bed, the balcony was just at the very top of the tree line, so my Northerly view was pretty much uninterrupted, I cannot explain what these objects were, however I can state that I am a pretty down to earth guy not prone to fanciful hallucination, after viewing the objects for approximately 6 seconds until they passed over the top of the apartment I rushed inside the apartment to tell my wife and son, they said that my face had gone white, I can confirm that this sighting really shook me up. The apartment is only about 1 kilometre from the sea.

Investigation:
We contacted the SUFOR SME on Astronomy to rule out meteors or other astronomical events. The SME indeed ruled these out. We asked the witness to consider bird migration and the sighting being a flock of Swans or Geese. The witness does not consider this as a cause for the sighting.

at 00,30am this morning 21 sept 2008 was seeing my mom home and we were talking about the moon , then from over rooftops of houses opposite at first thought was fireworks but didn't exsplode ,were two objects gliding over the sky there was no sound whatsoever then a few seconds after another appeared following the first two ,they had a red round centre with like flowers pettals all around them theses were not moving and were yellow or gold in colour as theses things glided across the sky .watch for around 50 seconds as they dissapeared over rooftops of houses ,my mother was with me saw the same

Description:
When leaving the Woodlands Edge pub myself and my brother noticed 2 star like orange objects in the sky above Peatmoor. One above the other with the bottom one slightly offset from vertical. Initially we thought they were moving but when using a datum point such as the top of a building they could have been static or very slow moving. We went into the shop with the intention of asking the other 2 members of our party what they thought the star looking lights were but when we came out approx 5 mins later they were gone ! There were no beams to suggest a laser or lights and no flashing to suggest an aircraft. We both thought the lights were extremely strange. It was a completely clear night and the lights were very visible.

Investigation:
Initially a check of astronomical data is in order. However I also asked the witness if it resembled the video as posted as case SUF-CSE-028-200808. Waiting back to hear on the astronomical questions.

Description:
At approx 9.10/9.15 on 23rd August 2008, we were travelling from west Huntspill, Somerset to Woolavington, Somerset.{Both villages}, when all of a sudden I saw a large red ball in the sky hovering over Woolavinton Housing Estate.
At first we thought it was a planet, but it looked different , somehow,anyhow as we pulled onto our daughters drive the ball started to move sand went overhead and off towards Shipham/ Cheddar. the ball was orangey/red and it was totally silent.
As it rose in the sky it seemed to stop and hob=very and then went up into the sky really fast.
We made our way back to West Huntspill, when my daughter phoned to say she could see three more of the balls in the sky.
The next day there was a phone in on Orchard Fm about them, and it appears they were seen as far afield as Taunton, Curry Rivel, Shipham and Bridwater.
Then in The Bridgwater Gazette a man told that he saw six or eight of the balls on the same night also.
I am now very interested to see if we can find out if they really were UFO's.
I have looked on the Lantern sites and these balls look nothing like the lanterns, they wee perfectly round and a very solid colour, no flickering or anything like that.

Investigation:
Given that the object was sighted a lot, featured on a radio show and was in the local press a check is required to find out who investigated this.

Description:
We were driving back from the Rattlebone inn in Sherston towards Swindon at 9:40 on the 6th September 2008.
As we were nearing Malmesbury we first noticed three pink lights in the sky. At first we thought they were just bright stars but as it was a cloudy night we realised that they weren't.
As we got a little closer, we came to a bend in the road and pulled over into a side road. We now had a full veiw of the lights with no obstacles in the way.
There were now five pink lights in the shape of a triangle. None of them flashed or flickered. They were just hanging motionless in the sky, none moved for a few minutes or so.
There were no sounds of any kind. The two lights at the base of the triangle suddenly flickered and dimmed at the exact same time. They then vanished all together leaving three lights.
The light to the right of the formation then suddenly rose upwards quickly and then stopped without even slowing down, it paused for a moment and then shot horizontally across to the left stopping instantly once again just above what was the highest of the three lights. It paused once again and then slowly lowered itself onto the light beneath it merging into one. The light didn't glow any brighter.
There were now two lights left. They just hung there motionless once again. We watched for maybe five minutes all together. We got back into the car and drove towards them. As our veiw was blocked by a tree line we lost sight of them all together.
I have kept an open mind about so called UFO's but this was very strange. The objects were not aircraft as one of them performed a movement that an aircraft or helicopter couldn't do.
These things were very bright and big. Other people must of seen them.

The first thing that comes to mind are flares (Strontium would induce pink colour). I have written to the military to request any use of flares on the date of this sighting and on the date of the forum post link above. I will not get an answer at least until the 22nd of October.

Description:
I attach a photo that we took one night up at Castlerigg Stone Circle in the Lake District four years ago. My family and I were definitely the only ones there, and were taking a few random snaps. When we downloaded the photos, we were surprised to see (if you zoomed in) what we were convinced appeared to be a rather scary smiling face surrounded by an oval of light.

We showed this to a number of people who could also see the same thing, but I suspect that there was probably a logical explanation caused by something like the effect of some distant car headlights appearing over the fells somewhere. Anyway, what do you think? Any ideas?

Initial thoughts on this photo seem to point to an insect (DragonFly?) crossing the circle as the image was taken.

Description:
I looked like a warm glow drifting across the sky. It appeared odd to me as it did not have any typical flashing lights like an airplane does and it was more of a mass of colour rather than just fixed lights. I genuinely haven’t seen anything like it before and made me instantly point it out to the people around me. What confirmed to me that I had seen something unusual was the change in direction. It did make a gradual turn and it didn’t adjust its speed, it just simply went from horizontal to vertical and dropped down below my sky line from sight.

Investigation:
The sighting was made at the Swindon Gay Pride Festival. The most likely cause are the stage lights that were in use as part of the festival.

Description
I saw two objects, of unknown type flying south to north over North street old town.The objects were orange, oval in shape and were flying in formation and matching each others speed. They were approx 300-400 ft high in altitude, and were flying too fast to be a candle balloon, or a helicoptor. I immediately called my friend who I thought would be at the event in the town gardens that was being held that evening, to see if he could confirm if the event had fired flares into the sky. He had just gotten off of a bus in Victoria hill, and he also confirmed the sighting, stating that they were now hovering, and they hovered for approx 2 mins before they flew off again.They never left a vapour trail that I could see, there was no sound either. I served 2 years in the Royal Marines, and in my professional opinion I have not seen anything like this before, flares do not fly in formation, they drop, they also leave a vapour trail from the burning magnesium/sodium compounds that they contain. They werent balloons either, as they did not follow the wind pattern, and they were flying on a straight course with no deviation.I cannot confirm that these were extra terrestial of origin, but I can confirm they are certainly not any type of an aircraft configuration that I have seen before.

Investigation:
Lanterns were dismissed as the reason for this sighting. It was not the police/air ambulance helicopter as it was not operational on this date. Confirmed by control centre). Further investigation reveals this was a helicopter. Please see SUF-CSE-028 for video of this helicopter in action.

Description :
I will begin by telling you where I live as I think this must have a bearing on why these craft keep appearing. I live in a town called Wootton Bassett nr Swindon in Wiltshire, roughly 10-15 miles to Avebury and Silbury hill, quite near to Salisbury plain (where they are holding army training currently). Wootton Bassett is also 7 miles away from RAF Lyneham.The sightings however have always been in the direction of Marlborough and Avebury although the distance of these craft for me is almost impossible to judge.1st sightingRoughly 2 weeks ago, I went out my back door to smoke a cigarette sat down and looked at the sky as it was a clear summers night, roughly 11 o'clock. The stars were shining brightly and I was in awe just taking in the view. Until one of these 'star's' began to gradually move in a slightly curved line, it began slowly then speeded up. I then noticed that there were more moving, there were 4 or 5 as I remember. I remember one moving at incredible speed taking almost right angles (as if drawing a diagram on a chalk board) slightly slowing at each turn before leaping at incredible speed to its next angle turn. I am no physicist or propulsion expert but I know that nothing on this planet can take bends or accelerate like that.I remember at one point that it seemed as though they were interacting together, ths may sound silly but it almost looked playful. There was no consistency in their movement. One thing I distinctly remember is one of the craft started moving left to right rapidly as if it was being shaken, it was moving so fast it was a blur, it then slowed moved left at a gradual rate and then shot off at about a 130 degree angle and out of sight. It looked like a shooting star as it left, but rather than heading for earth it was leaving and much faster. In a click of your finger it was gone.I think I made my way back indoor's as things settled.The craft basically looked like large star's, a yellowish white in colour. I'm not 100 percent sure but I think the 4th star may have split in 2 to make the fifth but I can't be sure. Also not all the movements were frenetic, sometimes it was hard to distinguish them from the actual stars.2nd sightingA couple of days later, roughly the same time and same setting. Only 2 craft this time. Again I only noticed them from gradual movement to begin with they really do just look like star's from my positioning.The best way to describe their movement pattern was like a child scribbling on a pice of paper (sometimes angled movements then sometime curved and a circular shape. Again differing speeds, the majority of the speed changes had a 'smoothness' to them. From what I can remember one of the craft occasionally darted from one spot to another with a smooth travelling pause between movements.This all took part in roughly the same area as the first sighting.3rd sightingBasically the same as the second sighting, however the 'jerk movement's were longer in length but seemed just as instantanious, and the sequence of events occured visually more towards Swindon rather than Marlborough and Avebury.4th sightingAbout 12.05am last night (I am going to record these sightings as well as I can now)Sat outside, watching the stars, a smaller craft began to move (so I could distinguish it from the star's) and rose from just above the horizon at a steady pace, veered off left a little and continued to rise in a straight line, slowed then stopped, then disappeared. It did not fly away, it was as if someone just turned it off.

Investigation:
Same witness as SUF-CSE-016-010808. There are a number of these sightings listed above, but all are very similar. This could be high altitude cloud combined with autokinesis. Please refer to the latest case SUF-CSE-nnn-180908.

They both appeared to be dimming in brightness then regaining its brightness as if someone was controlling them with a dimmer light switch, which compared to the other star's looked quite odd, and I would say would be a characteristic for you and you comrades to look for.Anyhow, as these 2 circular craft were behaving oddly, by moving slightly I focused on these for around 15 minutes, intermittently they were brightening and dimming. It was about 11:45 they began 2 move together maintaining the same distance part, and moving quite slowly. They alternating brightness increased slightly and at times faded out completely. They moved for some distance and then returned back to roughly the same position as I noticed them before.Cloud cover then prevented my seeing them again and I thought I would email you immediately.

Description:
At 10.30 pm this evening I wentout into my garden and noticed a very bright object in the sky. It was cylindrical in shape, wider at the bottom and narrowing to almost a point at the top. It seemed to have several distinct lights on it and was orientated with the widest bit at the bottom and narrowest at the top, like a dragonfly or a cigar stood on one end. It appeared to be reasonably high in the sky (light aircraft flying height ) and was stationary south of Bourton towards Malborough. My guess would be it would be roughly over the M4. It seemed to be a large object but I didn't have a reference point to judge by. It seemed to drift in a random way but always around the same spot - almost as though it was hovering. I thought it might be the Mir space station but the size and level in the sky seemed to be way off. There was no discernable noise or odour.
After 10 minutes I came in to get my camera. When I couldn't find it I went back outside and it was still there. By this time, I could hear other people in their gardens shouting "look at that thing". I watched it for another 10 minutes or so and then there appeared to be several aircraft in the sky, flying towards the object. I was pleased because I realised I would be able to get a size reference for the object so I watched one aircraft fly really close - at which point it suddenly disappeared as though someone had turned the lights out. I was completely flabbergasted as I had watched it for nearly half an hour by that point and there had been no change in luminosity. It has not reappeared.

Investigation:
Again, with all stationary objects a quick star & planet check is in order. This time the culprit could be Jupiter. I asked the witness to check the following night to see if the object was still there. I have heard nothing back.

Description:
We were in Old Town, Swindon having a BBQ, when at around 10.05pm a bright amber coloured light appeared and went across the sky in front of us, then it stopped and hovered for around a minute. It then started to move again in a slightly different direction. As it moved away, the light was pulsating until it disappeared about a minute later. It made no sound as it moved
I phoned the police to report this to see if they knew what it was, to which they said they would investigate it. A couple of minutes later, we saw the police helicopter fly over us in the direction that I said the object had gone.The police phoned me back to tell me that they had investigated and that "we were being taken over by aliens, but not to worry as they had them in custody. Did I think that I could identify them".
The explanation that the police gave to me for this was that there had been an event in Queens Park, Swindon and that they had been using lasers and that what I had seen was a laser.

Description:
We were on A 424 near Stow-on-Wold Glos.We could see large orange lights approaching our area of sky from all directions, they appeared to be slightly pulsating.It looked as though they were trying to form some kind of formation overhead, we estimated about 14 in number.All appeared to be about the same size, they moved faster than helicopters, an RAF Jet may have just kept pace with them.As they moved there was no sound at all, they had no navigation lights.We could see a far off conventional Aircraft with it's navigation lights flashing.Suddenly, they appeared to fade out & vanish.Another car had stopped actually on the A424, in order to watch these objects.Another car parked in the same pull in as us & suddenly took off at speed from behind us.No other traffic was about.

Investigation:
Have asked the witness to view the UFO balloons video. Still awaiting response.

Description:
There were white clouds and some areas of pure blue sky, and suddenly in the clear blue part of the sky an object seemed to suddenly appear. It looked as though the sun had caught it just at the right angle to shine for a while, it was a triangle shape almost, quite narrow at the top but wide at the bottom and seemed silvery in colour. It didn’t look as though it as moving at all but as I noticed it 'appear' my daughter shouted 'look at that'. I don’t know what it was but I know it was the wrong shape for any hot air balloon and wasn’t an airplane. It seemed stationary in the sky and I don’t know how long it was showing for as sadly we were driving in traffic and couldn’t just stop to watch it for long. As for the size it was much smaller than a full moon, it looked to be higher than a helicopter would be and bigger.

Investigation:
As with all stationary objects a check of the astronomical charts is in order. In calculating the witness position it seems likely based on the charts that what they had witnessed was a crescent moon. The sighting may have been distorted via the car window and the quite dreary weather conditions at the time.

Most likely cause of the UFO’s in the center of the image is birds in flight. The anomaly near the barn appears to be a digital processing anomaly.

Description

It was extremely cold winters night and I collected my daughter from her friends to take her to her other friends where she was spending the night.
As we drove up the road we saw what can only be described as a coloured cylinder (very faint) of colours revolving very slowly.
Myself and the girls commented on it and as we drove to Westlea that night as there was another one on a patch of grass which was between the houses. When I got back to my house which is close to a field there was the same thing happening. I actually went closer to have a look but there was a hedge separating me from the object (just as well). I was not frightened at all just curious as to what it was. I had to leave it as I was going out - I have never seen anything like it since. Why mine was different is that it wasn't in the air it was on the ground and I would say about 10ft high. The only way I can describe it is that it was like a cloaking device with faint colours showing through as it was revolving.

Investigation:
An interesting cause and one this investigator recalls seeing something similar many years ago. Were these objects some kind of bubble?

I live in Downend, Bristol and I have one of my own stories to report. My wife and I were at the top of the garden having a few drinks on a clear summers evening. We usually sit out wen the weather is good as we sometimes watch the planes going into Bristol Airport, but on this night we saw two bright objects one orange in color and the other light was yellow flying side by side closely together. They were flying directly over our house in very fast, but we noticed as they passed over the yellow object was revolving under the orange one and not flying side by sideWe cant believe what we were seeing, they were not planes as there was no FAA lights underneath and there was no noise, just a low humming noise as they passed over. I wish we were able to take sum video footage but my wife’s camcorder battery was flat and we don’t normally take a camera in the garden at night but from now on we will that’s for sure. This is the first time we ever saw anything like this in the years we have both been on this planet. I've always been a believer in life somewhere else in the universe, and we will always keep looking up at the skies that’s for sure.

Investigation:
Some interesting facts in this report. In starting the investigation it was noted that this case had been reported to UFO Info and UFO Casebook. I have asked the witness if any further details emerged from those postings before continuing.

Three points of light in a loose triangular formation traveling in a north to south direction. They were low over the horizon, no more than about 10 degrees and were first seen in an east north-easterly direction. As I continued to observe them they appeared to be weaving around in relation to each other, indicating that this constituted three separate objects rather that three points of light on one object.

Investigaton:
An interesting observation that first appears to be military aircraft on the horizon. Further investigation revealed a cluster of sightings at this time. The lights were investigated by other groups but no cause was found. Most likely cause is Military aircraft.

Description:
It was viewed from North Swindon, and appeared in the east. It was a few miles away from us, and I would estimate it was roughly the size of a 747. I noticed it in a very clear sky as the sun reflected off it. It was long and thin, with no obvious protrusions. I got my housemate to look at it too, to verify that I wasn't seeing things. It was stationary (this could be confirmed by the fact that an aeroplane was passing by at the same time, obviously moving relative to the object). I rushed to get a pair of binoculars, but by the time I'd got them out (30 seconds) it had indeed disappeared.

Investigation:
A third witness confirmed the presence of the object. From their perspective the object was definitely an aircraft.

Description: Witness did not notice the anomaly to the lower right of the cloud. The cloud formation had been in effect for 30 minutes before this image was taken.

Investigation:

The cloud formation is a contrail. The object appears to be a small plane. (Perhaps one that created this?). There is a natural cloud formation called a horseshoe vortex, however the British Cloud Society believe this formation to be too large.
